Happy Pride! A guardian angel holds a rainbow-colored awareness ribbon. The rainbow is used to show LGBTQIA awareness and support. LGBTQIA stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, and asexual or allied. More common abbreviations are LGBTQ or LGBTQ+.
In America, June is “Pride Month” that promotes equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning (LGBTQ+). This time was chosen to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York. It started when a gay club called the “Stonewall Inn” was raided on June 28, 1969.
